03 Bovine Smuggling Bids Foiled: 55 Bovines Rescued, 3 Vehicles Seized by JKP in Sub-Division Nagrota

Under the ongoing Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu & Kashmir Police have intensified their crackdown on bovine smuggling. In a significant development, the police team of Police Station Nagrota successfully foiled two separate smuggling attempts, rescuing *36 bovines from vehicles bearing registration numbers JK19/9416 and *JK02CD/0130* at Naka Ban Toll Plaza. One of the accused, identified as Mohd Rafiq, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Chamalwas, Banihal (District Ramban), was arrested on the spot. The driver of the second vehicle managed to flee.

In another successful operation, Police Station Jhajjar Kotli intercepted a vehicle at Naka Point Panjal and rescued 19 bovines from a vehicle with registration number JK20C/6359. The driver, however, escaped from the scene.

In total, 55 bovines were rescued and 3 vehicles seized in these coordinated actions.

Accordingly, the following FIRs have been registered:
•FIR No. 68/2025 and 69/2025 under sections 223/BNS and 11 PCA Act at Police Station Nagrota
•FIR No. 51/2025 at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli under relevant legal provisions.Investigations in all three cases are ongoing.

The general public has appreciated the proactive and consistent efforts of the police in curbing bovine smuggling and ensuring the enforcement of law and order in the region.
