498 Beneficiaries Allotted Land Under PMAY-G in J&K: Minister Javed Ahmad Dar

Srinagar, March 8, 2025: Minister for Rural Development Department, Javed Ahmad Dar, informed the Legislative Assembly today that 498 beneficiaries have been allotted five marla land each for housing under the Awaas Plus category of PMAY-G, while 442 cases are currently under review by Revenue authorities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Responding to a query by MLA M. Y. Tarigami, the Minister stated that an additional eight beneficiaries have also received five marlas of land for house construction under the scheme. He clarified that families without their own land are being granted 5 marlas of land for residential purposes, subject to verification by the Revenue Department.
Dar further assured the House that extended families from landless backgrounds may also be considered for land allotment under the scheme, depending on their eligibility and adherence to evolving guidelines.
Speaking on compensation policies, the Minister highlighted that the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act, 2013, is being implemented in J&K, ensuring fair land acquisition terms. He stated that compensation for land providers is set at double the market rate in urban areas and four times the market rate in rural regions.
Several legislators, including G. A Mir, Shakti Raj Parihar, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Rajiv Jasrotia, Chowdhary Mohammad Akram, and Mehraj Malik, raised supplementary questions on the implementation of the scheme and its benefits for underprivileged families.
