Pathankot put on high alert after 7 suspected terrorists spotted: Sketch released

Security forces in Punjab are on high alert following reports of suspected terrorists being sighted in Pathankot. Authorities have intensified search operations after receiving information from villagers about six to seven individuals suspected to be terrorists, seen by the locals.

The alert was triggered when villager in Phangtoli reported sightings of these men. A village lady claimed that the suspects had entered her house, demanded water & asked her if she resides alone in this house. This led to a massive search operation involving the Punjab Police, Indian Army, & other agencies who are now combing the area and securing key installations like the Mamun army cantonment and Pathankot Air Force station

The region has seen heightened security measures, including checks at railway stations, bus stands, and on major highways. This comes in the wake of recent similar alerts in J&K and past incidents of terrorist infiltrations in the area, emphasizing the ongoing security challenges in this border region.

Punjab Police have released sketch of the suspects. The sketch is created with the help of local resident who reported suspicious activity. Additionally, images of footprints believed to belong to the suspects have been shared to assist in their identification and capture.

Security forces, including the Indian Army and local police, continue to conduct intensive search operations in the area to locate and apprehend the suspects. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

Unconfirmed reports suggesting that the terrorists have been surrounded by the security forces. More details awaited.
