Key Issues in Samba Constituency: Voters’ Priorities and Demands for Solutions
As we all know, Jammu and Kashmir is currently undergoing Assembly elections, with 90 seats up for grabs. Among these, the Samba constituency is of particular significance. Various candidates, including those from the BJP, Congress, and independent candidates, are vying for this seat. However, the residents of Samba have several pressing issues that need to be addressed. The candidate who can provide viable solutions to these issues will likely earn the trust of the electorate.
Let’s take a closer look at these key issues and ask, “Who has the answers?”
1. Beautification of Samba Town and Parking Issues:
To enhance the appeal and organization of Samba town, resolving the parking issue is crucial. Adequate parking facilities at key locations are necessary to prevent traffic jams and chaos.
2. Sewage Problem:
The sewage issue in Samba is quite serious, posing significant health and sanitation challenges. What is the solution to this problem?
3. Electricity and Water Issues:
The region faces frequent power outages and irregular water supply, which are major concerns for the residents. The electorate is looking for a permanent solution to these problems.
4. Employment for Locals in SIDCO:
There is growing dissatisfaction among the locals regarding employment opportunities at SIDCO. They demand more job openings for local youth and the appointment of local officers. How can this issue be resolved?
5. Samba-Sumb-Goran Road Condition:
This road has been in poor condition for decades. The people are questioning the lack of improvement and demand better road quality. It is pertinent to mention that 9 panchayats of Samba constituency are in this belt and this is the only road which is providing connectivity to them.
6. Completion of Samba Model Town:
The work on Samba Model Town has been pending for the last 40 years. Completing this project within a set timeframe is of utmost importance.
7. Prioritizing Local Residents in AIIMS Samba:
Residents demand that local youth has been given priority in employment at AIIMS Samba, ensuring them opportunities for higher positions as well.
8. Inclusion of Goran Baba Religious Site in Tourism Map:
The religious site of Goran Baba, associated with Baba Shivo Ji, is famous across India. Including this site in the tourism map and developing the concept of religious tourism could generate income for the residents of the entire Sumb belt. This includes villages from Mala Pangwal to Rayor, Payur, Jatta, Nand, Banb, Kaner, Jeed, Dabanu, Janda, Janau, Belyan, Marail Belt, Khabbal, Sur, Mansur, and others (Some names might be not added). Such initiatives could improve the standard of living in these areas.
9. Road Construction Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana:
Connecting rural roads in Samba under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and completing the construction of pending bridges is essential.
10. Curbing the Mining Mafia:
The illegal extraction of sand and gravel by the mining mafia needs to be stopped. There should be a reintroduction of a fixed cess, ensuring that these materials are available at fair prices instead of the inflated rates currently imposed by the mafia.
11. Conservation of Basantar River:
The Basantar River, which is the lifeline of Samba, is deteriorating due to unchecked excavation. There is a need for serious efforts to restore its glory and prevent further degradation.
These issues are of paramount importance to the people of Samba. The candidate who can offer concrete solutions will be the most suitable representative for the constituency. It remains to be seen which candidate can provide a reliable plan and commitment to addressing these key concerns
