General Assembly Elections 2024 – Samba District Overview

Samba, Jammu & Kashmir – As the General Assembly Elections 2024 approach, Samba District is prepared to ensure a smooth and secure voting process across its three constituencies: Ramgarh (AC 69), Samba (AC 70), and Vijaypur (AC 71). Comprehensive arrangements have been made to facilitate the electorate and uphold the democratic process.

Polling Arrangements:

  • Total Polling Booths: 366, spread across 264 locations, have been set up to accommodate the district’s 260,213 registered voters.
  • AC 69 (Ramgarh): 88,597 voters
  • AC 70 (Samba): 91,080 voters
  • AC 71 (Vijaypur): 80,536 voters

Special Initiatives for Inclusivity and Efficiency:

  1. Pink Polling Booths: A total of 13 Pink Polling Booths have been established to empower women’s participation. These booths are managed entirely by women, from security personnel to polling officials, and are distinctly themed in pink.

  1. Polling Booths Managed by Persons with Disabilities (PwD): To ensure inclusivity, 7 booths will be managed by Persons with Disabilities.

  1. Green Polling Booths: A total of 9 booths have been designated as Green Polling Booths, focusing on eco-friendly practices.

  1. Border Polling Booth: One polling booth has been set up at the border area in Ramgarh (AC 69) to ensure that every eligible voter, regardless of location, can participate in the election.
  2. Model Polling Stations: Three Model Polling Stations have been established to demonstrate the best practices in electoral management and provide exemplary services.

  1. Webcasting Facilities: 202 polling stations will have webcasting facilities, directly monitored by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure transparency and security during the voting process.
