No election-related campaign activities will be permitted in District Samba 48 hours prior to the close of polling on October 1, 2024: DEO Samba
The District Election Officer (DEO) of Samba, Rajesh Sharma, has issued a notice in line with the instructions from the Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, as per letter No.CEO-ELECOCOE/110/2024-1/3538-58 dated September 14, 2024. The notice reiterates the guidelines under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, stating that no election-related campaign activities will be permitted in District Samba 48 hours prior to the close of polling on October 1, 2024.Additionally, in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the final 72 hours before polling, all political functionaries, party workers, and campaigners who are not registered voters in the constituency and were brought in from outside to support candidates must leave the district. This move is to ensure a free and fair electoral process, as their continued presence could disrupt the electoral atmosphere. Any violation of this directive will invite legal action.This step has been taken to maintain the integrity and transparency of the election process in District Samba.
