Kupwara Encounter: Two Terrorists Neutralized by Indian Army; War Like Stores Recovered
Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, October 6, 2024 — In a significant operation, the Indian Army successfully neutralized two terrorists during an encounter in the Machil sector of Kupwara district. The encounter began late last night after intelligence inputs indicated the presence of terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Line of Control (LoC).
The security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the dense forest area, leading to a fierce exchange of fire. After several hours of heavy gunfire, the Army confirmed that two terrorists had been killed. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.
Officials stated that the terrorists were attempting to cross the LoC from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) when they were intercepted. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb infiltration attempts and ensure peace in the region ahead of the upcoming elections.
The identity and affiliation of the terrorists are yet to be confirmed. A combing operation is still underway to check for any additional militants in the area.
