Delhi court extends Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid’s interim bail till October 15
New Delhi, Oct 12: Delhi’s Patiala House Court has extended the interim bail of Engineer Rashid, Member of Parliament from Baramulla, till October 15 in the Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case.
Earlier, Rashid was granted interim bail until October 2, which was extended by 10 days on October 1. Now, the court has further extended the bail by three more days, pushing his surrender date to October 15 instead of October 13, as his lawyer confirmed.
Rashid had earlier filed a petition in the Patiala House Court, seeking a three-month interim bail to participate in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election campaign.
During the hearing, Rashid’s lawyer requested that, if the court could not grant a three-month bail, it should at least allow interim bail until October 10 for the election period. However, the court initially granted bail only until October 2, later extended by 10 days and now by another three days.
Engineer Rashid, who was lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with a 2017 terror funding case, was recently released on interim bail. His party contested in the Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir and failed to make a mark in the election.
