Satya Pal Malik Criticizes Congress and Highlights Omar Abdullah’s Limited Power Over Article 370

Srinagar, October 13: Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, known for his outspoken remarks, has criticized Congress for its lack of political engagement and commented on the limitations of Omar Abdullah in restoring Article 370. Malik stressed that only Parliament holds the authority to reinstate Article 370, but added that leaders like Omar Abdullah can still advocate for it.

Speaking about the Congress party, Malik remarked, “The BJP is active round-the-clock, always pursuing its political goals. Meanwhile, the Congress party surfaces only during elections, spending more time preparing for events rather than maintaining a consistent presence on the streets.” He further criticized Congress for its absence from ground-level struggles, stating that until the party starts engaging with the public consistently, it will fail to achieve any meaningful results.

Malik also reflected on BJP’s behind-the-scenes maneuvering during his tenure as Governor. He disclosed that Ram Madhav—a key BJP leader—was dispatched to negotiate with PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir. However, Mehbooba Mufti rejected the offer in advance, effectively ending any chances of an alliance.

This statement by Malik provides deeper insights into the political dynamics in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the BJP’s active political strategies and the challenges faced by Congress and regional leaders.
