Breaking News: JKNC to Nominate Farooq Abdullah and two others for Rajya Sabha: Key Leaders Likely to Get Ministeries

Srinagar, October 15: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) is preparing to nominate Farooq Abdullah and two other leaders—one from Jammu and one from the Valley—for the four vacant Rajya Sabha seats from the Union Territory. These seats have remained unfilled since February 2021, when the six-year terms of the previously elected MPs, chosen in 2015, expired. Elections for these seats were delayed due to the absence of a Legislative Assembly, which is required to elect Rajya Sabha members.

With the newly-elected Assembly set to function soon, the Rajya Sabha elections are likely to follow shortly. Meanwhile, Surinder Singh, Sakina Itoo, Saifullah Mir, Hasnain Masoodi, Javed Rana, and Ali Mohammad Sagar are expected to secure ministerial roles in the new government led by Omar Abdullah, whose swearing-in is scheduled for Wednesday at 11:30 AM.
