Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan Chowk renamed: Now to be known as Birsa Munda Chowk
Delhi, 15 November 2024: Sarai Kale Khan Chowk, the main intersection of the national capital, has now been renamed as Birsa Munda Chowk. This historic initiative was taken on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda.
Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar paid tribute to Lord Birsa Munda while announcing this name change. He said, “Birsa Munda was not only a hero of the tribal society, but he was also a great source of inspiration for India’s freedom struggle. His sacrifice will remain a guide for generations to come.”
Many dignitaries and local people were present at the ceremony organized on this occasion. A huge statue of Lord Birsa Munda has been installed at the Chowk, which displays his greatness and struggle.
This move is being taken positively by the tribal society and the citizens of Delhi. This name change is being considered a symbol of honoring the contribution of Lord Birsa Munda on the national stage.
