Commissioner Secretary Yasha Mudgal Reviews Tourism Department’s Progress, Stresses Timely Completion of Projects

Jammu, Dec 5: Commissioner Secretary, Tourism Department, Yasha Mudgal, chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu, to review the functioning of the department and assess the progress of ongoing developmental projects under various Tourism Development Authorities.

The meeting covered a broad range of topics, including the status of the Master Plans for Development Authorities, security SOPs for tourist destinations, grievance redressal mechanisms, revival of the Sukrala Mata Board, and the launch of a new tourism website. Discussions also included initiatives like a bloggers’ meet, finalization of trade rules, Adventure and Pilgrimage Familiarization (Fam) Tours, and the formulation of a Home Stay Policy.

Key updates on other initiatives, such as the Jammu Marathon/Adventure Race, tourist police deployment, adventure brochures, and the department’s recruitment rules for Gazetted and Non-Gazetted staff, were also reviewed.

Mudgal emphasized the need for expediting ongoing projects to ensure their timely completion and called for close monitoring of both the physical and financial progress of all developmental works.

Directors of Tourism for Kashmir and Jammu, along with senior officers, presented updates on various initiatives. CEOs of all Tourism Development Authorities provided progress reports on their respective projects, while the Managing Director of JKTDC and the Director of Finance highlighted their contributions to the department’s broader objectives.

The Commissioner Secretary stressed the importance of holistic promotion of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, urging officers to streamline operations and focus on impactful outcomes. She reiterated the department’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and services to boost the region’s tourism potential.

The meeting concluded with directives to prioritize the completion of key projects and ensure effective implementation of new initiatives to strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s position as a premier tourist destination.
