Watch the video: Cow Smugglers Clash with Police in Samba; SSP Refutes Firing Allegations
Samba, December 12: A dramatic incident unfolded in the Nud area of Samba district as cow smugglers attempted to break through a police barricade, leading to a violent confrontation. The smugglers drove their vehicle into the police personnel, injuring one officer & in the ensuing chase of the bovine smugglers, they lost control over their car & fell into the gorge. However, some media channels report that the bovine smugglers died in the police firing. On this Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba gave a rebuttal & dismissed circulating media reports alleging police firing during the incident, calling them baseless and factually incorrect.
In a statement issued earlier today, the SSP clarified, “No firing incident took place. The fact is that bovine smugglers in a speeding car broke the police Naka at Nud, critically injuring a police official. They fled from the spot, but their vehicle lost control a few hundred meters from the Naka and fell into a gorge, resulting in the death of two smugglers on the spot and injuring another. One bovine was also found dead at the scene.”
The injured police officer is undergoing treatment and is reported to be stable, while the surviving smuggler is in custody. Authorities have launched an investigation to uncover further details regarding the smuggling operation.
This incident highlights the dangers law enforcement officials face in tackling bovine smuggling, a persistent issue in the region. Further updates are awaited as the investigation continues.
