CM Omar Abdullah Urges Balance in Life at Amar Ujala’s Bhavviya Shatra Samman Event
Jammu – Chief Minister Omar Abdullah underscored the importance of holistic development and resilience while addressing Amar Ujala’s Bhavviya Shatra Samman award ceremony at the Convention Center in Jammu. The event celebrated the achievements of meritorious high school and intermediate students and brought together dignitaries, parents, and young achievers.
Highlighting the immense pressures faced by the youth, Abdullah emphasized the need to manage unrealistic academic expectations. “The extreme pressure to achieve high cut-offs, often exceeding 98%, is robbing our children of their childhood joy and innocence. We, as a society, must ensure that we allow our youth to live a balanced and fulfilling life,” he said.
The Chief Minister urged students to embrace learning beyond textbooks, engage in outdoor activities, and develop a reading habit to broaden their horizons and reduce stress. Reflecting on the lessons of life, he added, “Education isn’t confined to classrooms; it’s a continuous journey shaped by life’s experiences. Learn from others’ mistakes, live in the present, and prepare for the future.”
Abdullah also touched upon critical societal challenges, including drug addiction among the youth in Jammu and Kashmir. “Addiction is not a weakness but a disease. It’s crucial to help those in need find the right treatment and support,” he remarked, urging young people to play an active role in combating the issue.
In a poignant moment, the Chief Minister reflected on climate change and its impact. “The world we inherited was far better than what we’re passing on to you. We must act now to reverse the damage and leave behind a better world,” he said, emphasizing the responsibility of future generations to address this crisis.
Concluding his address, Abdullah encouraged students to persevere in the face of challenges, sharing lessons from his political career. “No matter how difficult things may seem, never give in. Resilience is key to overcoming life’s darkest moments,” he advised.
The event, attended by Ministers Javed Ahmad Rana and Satish Sharma, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Principal Secretary of School Education, and Amar Ujala’s Executive Editor Indu Shekhar Pancholi, concluded with the distribution of certificates and medals to the awardees. Abdullah congratulated the students and their parents, urging them to continue striving for a balanced and fulfilling life.
