Tragic Fire Incident in Kathua Claims Six Lives: Injures Four
Kathua, December 18: A devastating fire broke out in Kathua, claiming the lives of six people, including three children, and leaving four others injured. The incident occurred in Shahidi Chowk and Shiva Nagar areas of Kathua district.
The deceased have been identified as:
- Ganga Bhagat (17), daughter of Bharat Bushan, resident of Shahidi Chowk, Kathua.
- Danish Bhagat (15), son of Bharat Bushan, resident of Shahidi Chowk, Kathua.
- Avatar Krishan (81), son of Keshav Raina, resident of Ward No. 16, Shiva Nagar, Kathua.
- Barkha Raina (25), daughter of Avatar Krishan, resident of Shiva Nagar, Kathua.
- Takash Raina (3), son of Avatar Krishan, resident of Shiva Nagar, Kathua.
- Advik Raina (4), son of Sandeep Kaul, resident of Jagti Nagrota, Jammu.
The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary room at GMC Kathua for further procedures.
Four individuals sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment. They have been identified as:
- Swarna Devi (61), wife of Avatar Krishan, resident of Shiva Nagar, Kathua.
- Neetu Devi (40), wife of Bharat Bushan, resident of Shahidi Chowk, Kathua.
- Arun Kumar (15), son of Sain Chand, resident of Batote, Ramban.
- Kewal Krishan (69), son of Mansa Ram, resident of Shiva Nagar, Kathua.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and authorities are conducting an investigation. This tragic incident has plunged the community into mourning, with many expressing shock and grief over the loss of lives, particularly young children.
