Protests continue against ropeway construction: Police use mild force

Katra, December 25: Local residents and protesters today protested strongly against the ropeway project. The protesters say that this project will damage the environment and adversely affect the lives of local residents.

There was a scuffle between the police and the protesters during the protest. To control the situation, the police detained some protesters. Apart from this, mild lathicharge was also done to disperse the crowd.

The protesters say that they were putting forward their point in a peaceful manner, but the police used force. At the same time, police officials say that the protesters blocked the road without permission, which created a danger of deteriorating public order.

Administration is of the view point that ropeway project say that it is important for regional development, while those opposing it consider it a threat to the environment and livelihood.
