Major Anti-Encroachment Drive Launched by Jammu Development Authority
Jammu, Jan 11: Under the directions of Mandeep Kour, Commissioner/Secretary H&UDD, the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), in collaboration with the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), District Administration, and Police, has intensified its anti-encroachment and demolition drive across Jammu to reclaim encroached land and ensure compliance with building norms.
Today, a coordinated crackdown was conducted in the Sidhra and Majeen areas, targeting encroachments and unauthorized constructions on JDA land. Pankaj Sharma, Vice Chairman of JDA, led the operation, which aimed to curb land encroachments and violations of building regulations. This drive comes as part of the JDA’s commitment to planned development and ensuring lawful land use.
12 Illegal Structures Demolished, 10 Kanals of Land Reclaimed
The anti-encroachment team successfully demolished 12 illegal houses and 4 plinths, reclaiming 10 kanals of JDA land. Areas with significant unauthorized construction, including Dingyali, Gulshan Nagar, and Asrarabad in revenue villages Majeen and Ragoora, were targeted during the drive. Despite prior warnings and notices, encroachers, including contractors with large labor forces, continued construction, prompting decisive action by the authorities.
The drive was executed with precision, as JMC provided men and machinery, while the District Administration offered magisterial support. Police presence ensured smooth operations and prevented any disruption.
The operation not only reclaimed valuable public land but also raised awareness about the legal procedures required for construction. Vice Chairman Pankaj Sharma issued a strong warning to encroachers, emphasizing that no one will escape the law. He urged the public to verify land titles and follow due procedures before undertaking any construction to avoid legal action.
Pankaj Sharma reiterated that the JDA is dedicated to safeguarding public land and promoting planned development. He advised residents against constructing buildings on JDA-acquired land in Ragoora, Majeen, and Sidhra, as these areas are earmarked for township development for the greater public good.
The JDA has vowed to continue its anti-encroachment and demolition drives to protect government land and enforce building regulations. Such efforts underscore the administration’s commitment to creating a law-abiding and organized urban landscape.
