Sonmarg, January 11: Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, visited Sonmarg today to oversee the preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit on Monday. The PM will inaugurate the highly anticipated Z-Morh Tunnel, a transformative project that promises to unlock the potential of Sonmarg as a year-round tourist destination.
The tunnel will ensure all-weather connectivity to the scenic valley, paving the way for its development as a world-class ski resort. This initiative is set to boost winter tourism, allowing locals to remain in the region year-round by generating sustained economic opportunities. Additionally, the tunnel will significantly reduce travel time from Srinagar to Kargil and Leh, enhancing accessibility to Ladakh.
The CM expressed confidence that the Z-Morh Tunnel would not only strengthen regional connectivity but also drive economic growth and tourism development in the area.
