New Delhi, January 12: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Udit Prakash Rai, a former Education Director in the Delhi government and an IAS officer, for alleged irregularities in faculty appointments at schools run by the Delhi Tamil Education Association (DTEA).

The case alleges the use of fake experience certificates to secure teaching positions, with Shilpi Rai, the officer’s wife, being among the beneficiaries. The appointments reportedly took place during Rai’s tenure, raising questions about his involvement in facilitating the process.

Sources indicate that the CBI initiated the probe following complaints of procedural violations and discrepancies in the recruitment process at DTEA schools. Investigators are scrutinizing documentation and related evidence to ascertain the extent of the malpractice.

The matter has sparked concerns over transparency in public sector appointments, with authorities emphasizing the need for accountability and adherence to merit-based recruitment processes.

Further details on the investigation are awaited.
