Teachers’ Fraternity Appeal for Restoration of Earned Leave Benefits and Fair Compensation to the Honorable Government of JKUT

0

We, the teaching fraternity of J&K UT, humbly bring to your attention an issue of critical concern regarding the non-availability of cash in lieu of earned leave benefits for teachers during the transfer process. Presently, only the benefit related to the day of transfer is being considered, while the earned leave accumulated during the transfer period is being denied. This practice is not only inadequate but also unjust to the dedicated service rendered by the teaching community.

Over the years, teachers have contributed significantly to essential duties such as census operations, surveys, and work during summer/winter vacations, often at the expense of personal time. However, the lack of adequate recognition and compensation for these efforts has left many of us disheartened. It is especially troubling that such benefits, which were available to our colleagues just 5 to 10 years ago, are now being withheld due to policy changes.

We urge the esteemed government to consider the following points:

  1. Restoration of Earned Leave Benefits: Revive the policy that ensures teachers are fairly compensated for their earned leave, including days accrued during transfers and other duties.
  2. Recognition of Additional Contributions: Provide appropriate compensation for teachers who have worked during vacations, surveys, and other official assignments.
  3. Uniform Policy Implementation: Ensure that all teachers, regardless of retirement date, are entitled to the same benefits, eliminating disparities among retirees.

The denial of these rightful benefits creates a sense of injustice and lowers the morale of educators who tirelessly dedicate their lives to shaping the future of our children. We respectfully appeal to the government to address this issue promptly and ensure justice for the teaching fraternity.

Let us restore the dignity and respect that our teachers deserve for their unwavering commitment to education and public service.

Thanking you in anticipation of your kind intervention.

Yours faithfully,
Surinder Singh State Organizer USTA
