J&K Dy CM Surinder Choudhary Visits Badhal Village, Assures Support to Bereaved Families Amid Crisis

Rajouri, January 20 – Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary visited Badhal village in Rajouri district today, where a mysterious illness has claimed 16 lives over the past month, leaving the community devastated. Among the deceased are five children from the family of Mohd Aslam, with his 15-year-old daughter Yasmeen Akhter now critically ill and in dire need of advanced medical treatment.

The Deputy CM met with grieving families, offering his condolences and assuring them of the government’s unwavering support during this unprecedented crisis. “The pain and suffering of the affected families are unimaginable. The government stands with you in this difficult time, and we will ensure all possible assistance is provided to uncover the root cause of these tragic deaths and to prevent further loss of life,” Choudhary stated.

During his visit, Choudhary reviewed the ongoing relief and medical measures being undertaken in the village. He emphasized the need for prompt action by the health department and directed officials to expedite efforts to identify the cause of the unexplained illness.

The Deputy CM also highlighted the government’s focus on providing advanced medical care for Yasmeen Akhter, the sole surviving child of Mohd Aslam’s family. “We are coordinating with top medical institutions to arrange her transfer for specialized treatment. The government is committed to saving every life and ensuring justice for the affected families,” he assured.

The crisis has triggered widespread concern, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah already directing health and police officials to intensify investigations. The health department has maintained an active presence in the area for the past 40 days, providing medicines, ambulances, and other essential resources.

Choudhary reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the community through this challenging period. “No effort will be spared in resolving this situation. We are working around the clock to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents of Badhal,” he said.

The Deputy CM’s visit has brought some solace to the grieving community, but residents continue to demand urgent action and comprehensive measures to prevent further tragedies.
