Union Home Ministry Constitutes Expert Team to Probe Mysterious Deaths in Rajouri

Rajouri, January 20, 2025 – In response to the alarming situation in Budhal village, Rajouri, where 16 people have lost their lives to a mysterious illness over the past 45 days, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has constituted an inter-ministerial team of experts to investigate the cause of these tragic deaths.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, speaking to reporters on Sunday, confirmed the development, stating that efforts are underway to ascertain the facts behind the deaths. “The Health Department of J&K and other departments conducted investigations, but the exact cause remains unclear. The Union Home Minister has now sent a team of experts, and their work has begun,” he said.

The expert team, which arrived in Budhal village today, comprises professionals from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, and Ministry of Water Resources. They are collaborating with local authorities to uncover the causative factors behind the illness.

Additionally, experts from animal husbandry, food safety, and forensic science laboratories are assisting in the investigation. The team includes specialists from some of the most reputable institutions in the country, who are expected to analyze all possible sources, including water, food, and environmental toxins, to determine the origin of the disease.

The tragedy has left the village in distress, with 16 lives lost in just over a month, including multiple members of the same family. LG Sinha assured the public that authorities are working tirelessly to manage the situation and prevent further casualties.

The situation continues to be closely monitored, and further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
