Youth Attacked with Gunfire and Sharp Weapons in Phallian Mandal, Jammu

Jammu, 4 Feb – In a shocking incident, unidentified criminals opened fire on a youth in the Phallian Mandal area of Jammu, firing 4-5 rounds at his vehicle. The attackers, reportedly numbering 5 to 6, also used sharp weapons like Toka to assault the victim & his friends.

Fortunately, he managed to escape unhurt, though his vehicle was severely damaged in the attack.

According to the victim, among the assailants were Shotu Chib alias Surendra Singh and Sunil, who is allegedly a police officer. The victim has accused Sunil of being a land grabber and stated that this was not the first attack-he was previously assaulted by the same individual about a year and a half ago. The attackers were said to have arrived in a silver-colored Alto car. Police arrived at the scene within ten minutes after the crime which happened at near about 5.20 pm and have launched an investigation.This incident marks the fourth major crime in Jammu following:

1. The murder of Gataru.

2. The firing on police by Paramjit Singh Jungi in Kotli Main Fateh.

3. The broad daylight gold heist at Fawwara Chowk, Greater Kailash, where two dacoits looted approximately 1.5 kg of gold at knifepoint (Toka).

With rising crime and repeated attacks, public morale is at an all-time low, and confidence in law enforcement is dwindling. Citizens are urging authorities to take strict action to restore safety and security in the region.
