Srinagar, February 15, 2025: Acting on credible intelligence, Srinagar Police conducted a search operation and seized 668 books allegedly promoting the ideology of a banned organization. The crackdown comes as part of an intensified effort to curb the dissemination of extremist material in the region.

According to police officials, the seized literature was being clandestinely sold and distributed to propagate the banned group’s agenda. Authorities have initiated legal action under Section 126 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) against those involved.

“Based on intelligence inputs, a search operation was conducted in Srinagar, leading to the recovery of 668 books promoting a proscribed organization. Necessary legal action has been taken,” Srinagar Police stated.

The police have not disclosed the name of the banned outfit or the individuals involved, citing an ongoing investigation. However, sources suggest that the literature was aimed at radicalizing youth and inciting unlawful activities.

Officials confirmed that further inquiries are underway to trace the source of the books and identify the network responsible for their distribution. The authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could pose a threat to peace and security in the region.
