J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat Reviews Security in Poonch and Rajouri Amid Rising Militancy

Poonch/Rajouri, March 12 – Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat made his maiden visit to Poonch, where he assessed the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and chaired a high-level security review meeting.

The meeting, attended by senior police officers, focused on enhancing security measures to counter infiltration attempts from across the border. The DGP emphasized tightening vigilance and strengthening counter-terror efforts in the region.

During his visit, Prabhat also participated in an Iftar tea gathering at District Police Lines in Poonch, interacting with police personnel and retired officers. Officials stated that he will visit the Surankote area today to further evaluate the security landscape.

The visit comes amid heightened militant activity in Poonch and Rajouri. On Tuesday, the DGP traveled to Rajouri, where he visited the Thanamandi subdivision. There, he chaired a security meeting with officers from various forces and conducted a comprehensive analysis of ongoing anti-terror operations.

In response to the security challenges, a series of directives were issued to enhance investigation mechanisms and implement newly introduced criminal laws effectively.

Security forces remain on high alert, with intensified operations underway to counter the recent surge in militant activity in the region.
