New Delhi, March 14, 2025: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, delivered the inaugural address at the Spiritual and Value Education Summit in New Delhi today, emphasizing the need for an education system that balances modern skills with ethical and moral values.

In his speech, the LG urged educators and scholars to transform education into a holistic framework that nurtures both intellectual growth and moral integrity among students.

“Seamless integration of ethics and values in education is crucial to creating an enlightened society and a powerful nation. Without a fine balance between our ancient value system and modern skills, sustaining long-term economic growth is impossible,” he stated.

Highlighting the role of value-based education in character building, the Lieutenant Governor stressed that education should go beyond academics to instill righteousness and self-awareness in students.

“Our youth should have science in one hand and samskara in the other. Along with advancements in science and technology, the teachings of traditional values, cultural heritage, and the vision of great personalities should be integrated into the core curriculum,” he asserted.

Future-Ready Education and Skill Development

Addressing the need for a future-ready education system, LG Sinha underscored the importance of continuous learning and skill development in an era of rapid change.

“To meet the evolving demands of the industry, students must constantly upskill and reskill. Teachers must go beyond textbooks and equip students with real-world skills to help them become successful professionals,” he emphasized.

He also urged educational institutions to adopt a “Zero Stress Campus” model, ensuring a learning environment that fosters creativity and reduces pressure on students.

Education as a Path to Liberation

The LG defined true education as a means of self-discovery and personal growth, rather than mere rote learning.

“True education is about self-exploration and self-awareness. It is not about chasing marks but about nurturing lifelong learning skills. Students should follow their passion and aim to reach the pinnacle of their creativity,” he said.

Calling upon parents to support their children’s passions, he stated that allowing youth to pursue subjects of their choice would unlock their full potential.

Felicitation of Educators

During the event, the Lieutenant Governor extended his congratulations to Dr. Priyaranjan Trivedi, members of Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar Vishwa Hindu Vidyapeeth, and the Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment (IEE) for their contributions to value-based education.

The summit concluded with a call for collective efforts to integrate ethics, skill development, and cultural values into the education system, ensuring a well-rounded and empowered future generation.
