Dr. Narinder Singh Raises Voice for Nai Basti Shopkeepers’ Rehabilitation in J&K Assembly

Jammu, March 15: Dr. Narinder Singh, MLA RS Pura-Jammu South and BJP National Secretary, strongly pressed for the rehabilitation of shopkeepers from Nai Basti in the J&K Assembly. He also visited the area to meet the agitating shopkeepers, who were recently served eviction notices.
Dr. Singh demanded that the government must fulfill its commitment to rehabilitate the affected shopkeepers before uprooting them from their only source of income. He emphasized that the BJP has taken up the issue forcefully in the Assembly and with the Chief Minister. Additionally, he has spoken with the Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation, the Divisional Commissioner, and other officials, urging a more humanitarian approach to the situation.
He pointed out that the shops in question fall within the route of the Express Highway extension. However, government authorities had previously assured the shopkeepers that they would be allotted alternate shops in Chanderbhaga before any eviction. Now, Dr. Singh insists that these promises must be honored without delay, ensuring that the affected shopkeepers can continue earning their livelihood.
Dr. Singh assured the shopkeepers that BJP MLAs stand firmly with them and will fight for their rightful demands. He called for the immediate withdrawal of the eviction notices and reiterated that his party is prepared to take all necessary steps, including sitting in protest with the people if needed.
He also urged the NC-led government to act as a people-friendly administration rather than an anti-people force, stressing the importance of a dignified rehabilitation process before taking any further action.
