Major Security Breach at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine: Woman Arrested with Firearm
Katra, 18, 2025: A serious security lapse occurred at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine as a woman managed to breach multiple security checks and reach the Bhawan with a firearm.
The accused, identified as Jyoti Gupta, who is said to be working in Delhi Police, was found in possession of a pistol during the intervening night of March 14-15, 2025. Upon verification, authorities discovered that the license for the weapon had expired several years ago.
The Reasi Police swiftly intervened, arresting the woman and seizing the firearm. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Police Station Bhawan under relevant sections of the Arms Act.
The incident has raised serious concerns about security measures at the revered shrine, which witnesses a massive footfall of devotees every day. Authorities are now investigating how the lapse occurred and whether any security personnel were at fault.
