Jammu, April 14, 2025: Following the resounding success of the ‘Tawi Aarti’ in Jammu, which has emerged as a spiritual and cultural highlight on the banks of River Tawi, there is growing interest in initiating similar ceremonial worship rituals in District Samba and Purmandal to elevate religious tourism in the region.

The proposed sites include the banks of River Basantar near Chichi Mata Temple in Samba and along the sacred River Devika in Uttarvahini and Purmandal, areas renowned for their deep spiritual significance.

The ‘Tawi Aarti,’ described by Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha as a “divine spectacle” during its Baisakhi celebration, has set a precedent for blending spirituality and tourism.

Inspired by this model, introducing a comparable ritual on the banks of River Basantar near Chichi Mata Temple—a revered Shakti Peeth where Goddess Sati’s little finger is believed to have fallen

could draw devotees and tourists alike. Located just 2 km from Samba town along the National Highway, the site is easily accessible and holds immense religious importance, making it an ideal location for a ceremonial aarti to honor the divine feminine energy.

Similarly, the banks of River Devika in Uttarvahini and Purmandal, often called “Chhota Kashi,” present a compelling case for such an initiative.

Purmandal, situated 39 km from Jammu, is home to ancient Shiva and Parvati temples and is steeped in mythological significance, with scriptures like the Padma Purana equating Devika’s sanctity to that of the Ganges. Uttarvahini, 5 km from Purmandal, is unique for the northward flow of Devika, a rare phenomenon that enhances its spiritual allure. A ceremonial aarti here could mirror the grandeur of Tawi Aarti, offering devotees a profound spiritual experience while showcasing the region’s cultural heritage.

These areas are already pivotal to religious tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. Chichi Mata attracts pilgrims year-round,

while Purmandal and Uttarvahini are key pilgrimage centers, with devotees performing rituals for soul purification and ancestral peace. Launching aarti ceremonies at these sites could amplify their visibility, much like the Ganga Aarti in Haridwar or Rishikesh, drawing both domestic and international visitors.

Such events would not only deepen spiritual engagement but also stimulate local economies through increased tourism, creating opportunities for local artisans, vendors, and hospitality services.

The administration could collaborate with local communities, temple authorities, and tourism boards to organize these rituals, ensuring they reflect the region’s Dogra traditions while maintaining environmental sustainability. Regular cleanliness drives, like the one launched along Devika in 2023, could ensure the sanctity of these sites is preserved.

As Jammu and Kashmir continues to strengthen its position as a spiritual tourism hub, initiating aarti ceremonies at these sacred sites could be a transformative step, echoing the reverence and unity fostered by the Tawi Aarti and cementing the region’s identity as a land of divine heritage.

जम्मू, 14 अप्रैल 2025: जम्मू में तवी नदी के तट पर आयोजित ‘तवी आरती’ की शानदार सफलता, जो बैसाखी के अवसर पर एक आध्यात्मिक और सांस्कृतिक आकर्षण के रूप में उभरी, के बाद अब सांबा जिले और पुरमंडल में भी इसी तरह की पूजा-अर्चना की रस्में शुरू करने की मांग बढ़ रही है, ताकि क्षेत्र में धार्मिक पर्यटन को और बढ़ावा मिले। प्रस्तावित स्थानों में सांबा के चिची माता मंदिर के पास बसंतर नदी का तट और उत्तरवाहिनी तथा पुरमंडल में पवित्र देविका नदी का तट शामिल हैं, जो अपने गहरे आध्यात्मिक महत्व के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं।

‘तवी आरती’ को उपराज्यपाल श्री मनोज सिन्हा ने बैसाखी के दौरान “दिव्य दृश्य” करार दिया था। इस मॉडल से प्रेरित होकर, सांबा में चिची माता मंदिर के पास बसंतर नदी के तट पर ऐसी ही रस्म शुरू की जा सकती है। चिची माता एक शक्तिपीठ है, जहां माना जाता है कि माता सती की छोटी उंगली गिरी थी। यह स्थल सांबा शहर से मात्र 2 किमी दूर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर स्थित है, जो इसे आसानी से पहुंच योग्य और धार्मिक दृष्टि से महत्वपूर्ण बनाता है। यहां आरती का आयोजन दैवीय स्त्री शक्ति को सम्मान देने का एक आदर्श माध्यम हो सकता है।

इसी तरह, उत्तरवाहिनी और पुरमंडल में देविका नदी के तट भी इस पहल के लिए उपयुक्त हैं। पुरमंडल, जिसे “छोटा काशी” कहा जाता है, जम्मू से 39 किमी दूर है और यहां प्राचीन शिव-पार्वती मंदिर हैं। यह स्थान पौराणिक महत्व रखता है, और पद्म पुराण जैसे ग्रंथों में देविका को गंगा के समान पवित्र बताया गया है। पुरमंडल से 5 किमी दूर उत्तरवाहिनी में देविका का उत्तर दिशा में बहना एक दुर्लभ आध्यात्मिक विशेषता है। यहां तवी आरती जैसी भव्य आरती शुरू करने से भक्तों को गहन आध्यात्मिक अनुभव प्राप्त होगा और क्षेत्र की सांस्कृतिक विरासत को बढ़ावा मिलेगा।

ये क्षेत्र पहले से ही जम्मू-कश्मीर में धार्मिक पर्यटन के केंद्र हैं।

चिची माता साल भर श्रद्धालुओं को आकर्षित करता है, जबकि पुरमंडल और उत्तरवाहिनी प्रमुख तीर्थस्थल हैं, जहां श्रद्धालु आत्मा की शुद्धि और पितरों की शांति के लिए अनुष्ठान करते हैं।

इन स्थानों पर आरती समारोह शुरू करने से इनकी लोकप्रियता बढ़ सकती है, जैसा कि हरिद्वार या ऋषिकेश में गंगा आरती के साथ देखा जाता है। इससे न केवल आध्यात्मिक जुड़ाव बढ़ेगा, बल्कि स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था को भी पर्यटन के माध्यम से बल मिलेगा, जिससे स्थानीय कारीगरों, विक्रेताओं और आतिथ्य सेवाओं के लिए अवसर पैदा होंगे।

प्रशासन स्थानीय समुदायों, मंदिर प्रबंधनों और पर्यटन बोर्डों के साथ मिलकर इन रस्मों का आयोजन कर सकता है, यह सुनिश्चित करते हुए कि ये डोगरा परंपराओं को दर्शाएं और पर्यावरणीय स्थिरता बनाए रखें।

देविका के तट पर 2023 में शुरू की गई स्वच्छता अभियान जैसी नियमित पहल इन स्थलों की पवित्रता को बनाए रख सकती है।जम्मू-कश्मीर के धार्मिक पर्यटन केंद्र के रूप में अपनी स्थिति को मजबूत करने की दिशा में, इन पवित्र स्थलों पर आरती समारोह शुरू करना एक परिवर्तनकारी कदम हो सकता है। यह तवी आरती द्वारा उत्पन्न श्रद्धा और एकता की भावना को दोहराएगा और क्षेत्र को दिव्य विरासत की भूमि के रूप में स्थापित करेगा।
