J&K CM Omar Abdullah Visits Explosion-Hit Rehari & Aap Shambu Mandir in Jammu, Accompanied by Advisor Nasir Wani and MLA Arvind Gupta

Jammu, May 10, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited a house in the Rehari locality of Jammu on Saturday, which was severely damaged by a powerful explosion triggered by suspected Pakistani drone attacks or shelling. The CM was accompanied by his Advisor, Nasir Aslam Wani, and MLA Arvind Gupta during the visit, where he assessed the damage and interacted with the affected family, offering assurances of full support.
The explosion in Rehari, part of a series of attacks that rocked Jammu early Saturday, damaged a residential building and several parked vehicles, leaving four residents—Neeraj Gupta, his daughter Hitakshi Gupta, Vineet, and Rajinder Kumar—injured. The CM also visited another affected site in Roop Nagar, where similar destruction was reported. Expressing deep concern over the plight of the residents, Abdullah stated, “The pain and disruption faced by residents is deeply concerning. We stand with every affected family and will ensure all necessary support is provided without delay,” as posted on X.
Earlier in the day, CM Abdullah visited the residence of martyred Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Raj Kumar Thapa in Rajouri, who lost his life in a separate shelling incident by Pakistan on Saturday morning. Thapa’s residence was hit by a shell around 5:30 AM, resulting in his tragic death. The CM mourned the loss of the dedicated officer, noting that Thapa had accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister in Rajouri just a day prior and attended an online meeting chaired by Abdullah. “We have lost a dedicated officer of the J&K Administration Services… I’ve no words to express my shock & sadness at this terrible loss of life,” Abdullah shared on X.
The series of explosions, which began around 5 AM, caused widespread panic across Jammu, with reports of loud blasts in multiple cities, including Srinagar, Rajouri, and Udhampur. Authorities have attributed the attacks to a fresh wave of suspected Pakistani drone strikes and intense artillery shelling, targeting residential areas and infrastructure. The attacks follow a pattern of aggression, with Pakistan reportedly launching drone strikes across 26 locations in India, from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat, on the previous night.
The administration has mobilized relief efforts, with contingency funds of Rs 5 crore allocated to border districts and Rs 2 crore to other districts to address immediate needs. The CM has also directed authorities to strengthen infrastructure, including shelters and bunkers, to safeguard civilian lives in border areas.
The situation remains tense, with the government urging residents to stay vigilant while assuring comprehensive assistance to those impacted by the ongoing hostilities.
