Three Lashkar-e-Taiba Terrorists Killed in Intense Gunfight in Jammu & Kashmir’s Shopian

Shopian, J&K, May 13, 2025: In a significant breakthrough, three hardcore terrorists affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) believed to be neutralized by security forces in a fierce encounter in the Shukroo forest area of Keller, Shopian district, South Kashmir, on Tuesday. The operation, which is still underway, has reportedly trapped two additional terrorists, with authorities intensifying efforts to neutralize them.
According to officials, the Indian Army, acting on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists, launched a cordon-and-search operation in the densely forested region early Tuesday morning. As security forces closed in, the terrorists opened heavy fire, triggering an intense gunfight. The swift and coordinated response from the Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and CRPF led to the elimination of three LeT operatives.
“Three hardcore terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba have been killed in the exchange of fire. The operation is ongoing, with indications that two more terrorists may still be trapped in the area,” a top police officer confirmed. Additional troops have been deployed to tighten the cordon and prevent any escape, with combing operations continuing to ensure the area is cleared of threats.
The encounter, which began in Kulgam before shifting to Shopian’s forested terrain, has been described as a critical strike against terror networks in the region. Sources indicate that the slain terrorists were linked to recent subversive activities in South Kashmir, though their identities are yet to be officially disclosed pending verification.
