Jyoti Malhotra Espionage Case: Recent Viral Video Links her with ISI and Suspicious Money Trail

Haryana police who is already on the way to prove her connections with ISI, alleged she collaborated with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The accusations have sparked widespread concern, highlighting the growing intersection of social media influence and national security threats.
According to Haryana Police, Malhotra, who runs the popular YouTube channel Travel with JO with nearly 400,000 subscribers, knowingly cooperated with ISI operatives to gain access to exclusive facilities and VIP treatment during her visits to Pakistan. A video filmed by Scottish YouTuber Callum Mill, known as Callum Abroad, has added fuel to the controversy. The footage, recorded in March 2025 at Lahore’s Anarkali Bazaar, shows Malhotra accompanied by six to seven armed guards wielding AK-47s, wearing jackets inscribed with “No Fear.” In the video, Mill expresses bewilderment, stating, “I don’t know why, what’s the need for all the guns? Look at all the guns she’s got surrounding her.” The unusual security detail has raised questions about Malhotra’s connections with Pakistan’s security establishment.
Haryana Police have seized Malhotra’s electronic devices, including her phone and laptop, recovering 12 terabytes of data, which they claim contains evidence of her interactions with at least four suspected ISI operatives, identified as Danish, Ahsan, Shahid, and another unnamed individual. Preliminary forensic analysis has also uncovered a suspicious money trail in her bank accounts, prompting further investigation into possible financial transactions linked to espionage. Authorities are exploring whether funds were channeled through hawala networks, as no large transactions have been directly identified in her accounts.
Malhotra’s lavish lifestyle, including first-class travel, stays in luxury hotels, and visits to high-profile events in Pakistan and China, had already drawn scrutiny for being disproportionate to her known income. Her trips to Pakistan, including one in 2023 facilitated by a Pakistani High Commission staffer named Ehsan-ur-Rahim (alias Danish), who was expelled from India on May 13, 2025, for espionage, are under intense investigation. Police allege Malhotra shared sensitive information with ISI operatives via encrypted platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat, potentially compromising India’s national security.
The case has taken a broader dimension, with police from nine states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, joining the probe to examine Malhotra’s travel videos for possible coded messages or sensitive content. Her visit to Kashmir in November 2024, just months before the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 lives, has raised suspicions of a connection, though no direct evidence linking her to the attack has been confirmed.
Malhotra was arrested on May 15, 2025, under the Official Secrets Act and sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and was sent to 14-day judicial custody on May 26 after multiple court appearances. While she denies receiving foreign funding, claiming her trips were sponsored by travel and hospitality companies, her father, Harish Malhotra, insists she is innocent, stating she traveled to Pakistan with valid permissions for content creation.
