LG Manoj Sinha Inaugurates Nutraj’s State-of-the-Art Nuts & Dry Fruit Processing Plant in Samba

Samba, Jammu & Kashmir, June 8, 2025: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated Nutraj’s flagship state-of-the-art nuts and dry fruit processing plant in Samba, marking a significant milestone in the industrial development of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT). The cutting-edge facility, operated by VKC Nuts Private Limited, is set to drive economic and social progress in Samba and its adjoining areas, reinforcing the UT’s commitment to growth and prosperity.

In his address, LG Sinha congratulated Gagan Jain, Director of VKC Nuts Private Limited, and the entire team for establishing this advanced unit, which specializes in processing nuts, dry fruits, and value-added products. He emphasized that the plant will serve as an engine for J&K’s aspirations, fostering economic growth and enhancing local livelihoods. “This first-of-its-kind unit in a border area is proof of our resolve to take the UT to the pinnacle of progress,” LG Sinha stated.

The facility is expected to create direct employment opportunities for over 400 local youths, with 70% of the workforce comprising women, significantly contributing to inclusive economic development. The Lieutenant Governor also highlighted the unit’s potential to boost local income and improve living standards by increasing disposable income for families in the region.

LG Sinha further directed the Vice Chancellor of SKUAST Jammu to collaborate with VKC Nuts Private Limited to enhance walnut production, benefiting local farmers. Additionally, he urged the company to facilitate the export of local cherry production, aiming to strengthen J&K’s agricultural economy.

The inauguration was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Keshav Dutt Sharma, Chairman, DDC Samba; Members of Legislative Assembly Surjit Singh Slathia, Chander Parkash Ganga, and Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal; Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary of Industries and Commerce; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu; Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Samba; and heads of various departments and trade organizations.

This landmark initiative underscores J&K’s rapid strides in industrial growth and infrastructure development, positioning the UT as a hub for economic and social progress under a transparent and progressive policy framework.
