Exam Pattern,Salary, Eligibility, Syllabus and Selection Process of BPSC-CCE (Preliminary) (Mains Exam)

BPSC-CCE (Bihar Public Service Commission-Combined Competitive Examination) is conducted in two stages – Preliminary and Mains. The preliminary exam serves as a screening test, and those who qualify are eligible to appear for the Mains Exam. Here are the details regarding the exam pattern, salary, eligibility, syllabus, and selection process of BPSC-CCE:

Exam Pattern: BPSC-CCE (Preliminary) Exam Pattern:

  1. The exam is conducted in offline mode (OMR-based).
  2. The duration of the exam is 2 hours.
  3. The exam consists of two papers, each with 150 objective-type questions of 1 mark each.
  4. The question paper is bilingual (English and Hindi).
  5. There is negative marking, with 1/3rd of the marks deducted for every incorrect answer.
  6. The minimum qualifying marks for the Preliminary exam is 40% for the general category and 36.5% for the reserved category.

BPSC-CCE (Mains) Exam Pattern:

  1. The exam is conducted in offline mode (descriptive).
  2. The exam consists of 4 papers, with each paper carrying 300 marks.
  3. Each paper is of 3 hours duration.
  4. The minimum qualifying marks for the Mains exam is 30% for the general category and 27% for the reserved category.

Salary: The salary of BPSC-CCE is as per the pay scale of Bihar Government. The starting salary of BPSC-CCE is INR 44,900 per month. In addition to this, the selected candidates are also eligible for other allowances as per the Bihar Government rules.

Eligibility:

  1. The candidate should be a citizen of India.
  2. The age limit for BPSC-CCE is 21 to 37 years.
  3. The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
  4. The candidate should also be proficient in the Hindi language.

Syllabus: BPSC-CCE (Preliminary) Exam Syllabus:

Paper 1:

  1. General Studies – History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Environment, Science, Current Affairs

Paper 2:

  1. General Studies – Mental Ability, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Knowledge

BPSC-CCE (Mains) Exam Syllabus:

Paper 1:

  1. General Hindi
  2. General Studies – Indian Culture, Modern History of India, Indian Geography, Indian Polity, and Economy, Current Events of National and International Importance, Statistical Analysis

Paper 2:

  1. General Studies – Indian Constitution and Polity, Governance and Public Policy, International Relations, and Diplomacy, Biodiversity, Climate Change and Disaster Management, Technology, Economic Development, and Agriculture.

Paper 3:

  1. Optional Paper 1 – History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Sociology

Selection Process: The selection process for BPSC-CCE includes the following stages:

  1. Preliminary Exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Personal Interview

The candidates who qualify for the preliminary exam are eligible to appear for the Mains exam. The final selection of the candidates is based on their performance in the Mains exam and Personal Interview.
