To give impetus to ‘Digital Banking’ the district administration Samba installed mobile tower at Khabbal in remote Sumb area. According to DC Samba Abhishek Sharma, several initiatives have been taken by Government of India, RBI, NPCI and banks, to promote digital transactions and to create awareness about digital payments in the country. Some of the initiatives are BHIM-UPI, UPI-123, Aadhar Payment Bridge, AePS etc. So to fulfill the prime Minister Modi Govt flagship program of ‘Ease of living’ in which banking facilities are provided digitally, this mobile tower is installed at Khabbal area of Goran-Sumb. This mobile tower will provide 4G services to the residents of this remote area. According to him, Ease of living under Digital Banking system has so many benefits especially for the older generation & Distt Administration Samba is adopting this on ‘Mission Mode’
While talking with Samba Times, he elaborated ten key benefits for users that digital banking financial technology brings:
*No more waiting:
Digital banks are available 24 hours per day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
*More product information:
Users can more easily find information about payment methods, transaction amounts, and useful information such as financial education topics and types of interest. This helps customers feel closer to the bank and better attended to.
*Increased user confidence:
Electronic banking has the tools, protocols, and levels of security that make searches and transactions safe and secure. These protocols range from security certificates to strengthened data encryption.
*Increased service transparency:
The cost of services has improved, with even some commissions at zero cost or free transfers according to users’ needs. Transactions are made completely secure using complex encryption methods with coordinates, tokens, and electronic IDs to stop hackers.
*Intuitive, user-friendly platforms:
Something which users value highly. With users increasingly using multiple devices, companies are obliged to offer responsive designs that adapt to different configurations and screen sizes, as well as synchronising data so that it can be accessed at any time, regardless of which device the customer is using.
*Access to transactions:
Depending on the available technology, users can always access their balances, pending transactions, and other notifications.
*No more branch visits:
These are now confined to history. Users can use online banking and manage their transactions anytime, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
*High levels of user satisfaction despite not being widely used:
According to a customer satisfaction report by ASFI (the Spanish financial supervision authority), more than 80% of users rate these tools higher than 8 out of 10, meaning that users find them very useful.
*Ability to personalise interfaces:
Making it easy to configure designs with personalised menus for accessing preferred functions
It is pertinent to mention that Samba district is already the first district in JKUT for enabling/adopting digital banking system and more than 98% people are covered under digital Banking’ system initiative.
The Badali village of Samba was the first village which was enabled for digital payments with every household owning a bank account and promotion of digital banking, e-payments and cashless transactions facilitated by District Administration, JK Grameen Bank and NABARD in 2017.
