Amarnath Yatra: Fake registration gang busted, three arrested; Printer, computer and scanner recovered

On Saturday, the police arrested the leader of a gang and his two accomplices from Delhi for betraying the devotees who wanted to go to Shri Amarnath Yatra by making fake registrations and extorting huge money from them. Printers, fake stamps, computers and scanners, besides some ready made fake registration documents have also been recovered from them. The Jammu district administration has detected 300 fake registration certificates so far, while the number of fake registrations found in Samba and Kathua districts together is 433. Some pilgrims from Delhi, who reached Jammu two days ago for the Amarnath pilgrimage, were asked to continue their onward journey. Permission was denied, as all the registration certificates they had were fake. In Samba and Kathua also, fake registration certificates were found with some devotees. Jammu SSP Chandan Kohli said that an investigation team was formed under the leadership of SP South to investigate the whole matter. SDPO East and Bahu Fort police station in-charge Shivdev Singh were included in this. After assessing all the fake registration certificates, on the basis of interaction with some of the victims, the SHO identified a travel agent in Delhi. After this, a police team was sent to Delhi and the printer Harendra Verma and his two other accomplices, Dilip Prajapati and Vinod Kumar, who prepared fake registration certificates of Amarnath pilgrims, were arrested. All three have been brought to Jammu. Harendra Verma is a resident of West Rohtas Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi. Dilip Prajapati is a travel agent, while Vinod Kumar is into printing.
