Assam Flood Situation Worsens in Morigaon District
Morigaon, July 5, 2024: The flood situation in Assam’s Morigaon district worsens as thousands of residents are grappling with the aftermath of severe flooding. According to the District Administration, 194 villages in the district remain inundated, leaving numerous families stranded and in urgent need of assistance.
The relentless rise in water levels has disrupted daily life, with roads & homes submerged and damaged. Rescue operations are underway, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams working tirelessly to evacuate those in the most affected areas.
Local authorities have set up relief camps to provide shelter and essential supplies to displaced residents. However, the scale of the disaster has overwhelmed resources, and there is an urgent call for additional aid from state and national agencies.
