Braveheart JCO Kuldeep Chand of 9 PUNJAB Martyred in Counter-Infiltration Operation in Sunderbani

Rajouri, April 12, 2025 — Junior Commissioned Officer (Subedar) Kuldeep Chand of the 9 PUNJAB regiment laid down his life in the line of duty while leading a counter-infiltration operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keri-Battal area of Sunderbani sector on the night of April 11, 2025.

The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs about terrorist movement near the LoC. Subedar Kuldeep Chand, leading from the front, engaged the infiltrators in a fierce gunbattle. In the exchange of fire, he sustained critical injuries and later succumbed, displaying exceptional courage and dedication to duty.

Army officials paid rich tributes to the fallen hero, hailing his bravery and leadership in the face of grave danger. “Subedar Kuldeep Chand made the supreme sacrifice in the highest traditions of the Indian Army. His valor will not be forgotten,” a senior officer said.

A native of Himachal Pradesh, Subedar Kuldeep Chand is survived by his family, who were informed of his martyrdom and are being provided all necessary support.

The Indian Army continues to maintain a high level of alertness along the LoC to thwart any infiltration attempts. Operations in the area are ongoing.

The nation stands united in grief and salutes the gallantry of Subedar Kuldeep Chand.
