Breaking-Bovine Smuggling Incident in Samba Sector: Clash Between Police and Locals at Rakh Barotia, one injured shifted to GMC
Samba, 7th October 2024: In the early hours of Monday morning, a vehicle reportedly loaded with bovines broke through barricades established by the police at Phoolpur, Samba. The vehicle, allegedly belonging to members of the Gujjar community, fled towards the Rakh Barotia Gujjar Basti. In response, a police party, accompanied by local residents, pursued the vehicle to the Gujjar Basti. Upon reaching the location, a confrontation ensued as a group of Gujjars gathered and began pelting stones at the police. The situation escalated, forcing the police to act in self-defense, during which around 8-10 rounds were fired. In the self defence fire, one local resident, Farman Ali, son of Rashid Ali and a resident of Rakh Barotia, was injured. He was initially admitted to Government Hospital Vijaypur and later referred to GMC Jammu for further treatment.The incident has heightened tensions in the area, and authorities are monitoring the situation closely.Further updates on the condition of Farman Ali and the ongoing investigation are awaited.
