Samba, Jammu & Kashmir: In a shocking and gruesome incident, Harish Chandra Saini, a former soldier and commission agent (Aadhti) at the vegetable mandi in Diyala Chak (Rajpura), was brutally murdered in broad daylight inside his car near Lale Chak (or Lale Chakk) in the Rajpura area of Samba district.
According to reports and family statements, the 60-year-old victim was returning home after settling accounts at the vegetable market when he gave a lift to 2-3 unknown persons. The assailants attacked him with sharp-edged weapons inside the moving vehicle, killing him mercilessly. Initial reports says that an another vegetable merchant is involved inbthis incident. His grusesome murder is heartbreaking for his family and the local community.
Family members have stated that Harish Chandra Saini was carrying approximately ₹1 to ₹1.5 lakh in cash from the day’s transactions. No prior enmity has been reported so far. Police and initial investigations point towards a robbery motive, with the attackers targeting the cash he was carrying.
Samba Police responded swiftly to the scene. One accused has already been arrested, while the search for the remaining assailants continues. Forensic teams (FSL) have collected evidence from the spot, and further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and identify all those involved.
This cold-blooded killing has sent shockwaves through the region. A retired soldier known for his smiling face and dedication to his work met a tragic end in what appears to be a loot-driven crime.
The family is demanding swift justice. Authorities are urged to ensure that all culprits are brought to book and punished severely.
Police have appealed to the public for any information that could help trace the remaining accused.
