CBI Raids Srinagar Civil Secretariat in Corruption Probe

A joint team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Chandigarh and Srinagar is conducting a search operation at the office of Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Secretary of Labour and Employment Development, in the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar.
According to top sources, the raid is linked to an ongoing investigation into a corruption case registered under FIR No. RC0512025S0003. The case has been filed under Section 5(2) read with 5(1)(e) of the Jammu & Kashmir Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, and Section 109 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), which pertains to the possession of disproportionate assets and abetment of the crime.
The CBI team is reportedly examining crucial documents and electronic records as part of the investigation. Raids were still underway when reports last came in.
