CM Omar Abdullah Highlights Importance of Civil Society Feedback and Reiterates Commitment to Darbar Move
Jammu, December 12: After a comprehensive interaction with members of the civil society, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the significance of such engagements in bridging gaps within governance. Speaking at the meeting, the CM acknowledged that obtaining genuine feedback within government systems can be challenging at times.
“Meetings like these bring people without any agendas, enabling them to share honest feedback and suggestions, which ultimately benefit us. The purpose of this session was to sit together with members of the civil society and listen to their perspectives,” said Abdullah.
On the longstanding debate surrounding the Darbar move, the CM reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring the tradition. “It’s surprising that the Darbar move issue did not surface during the elections but gained momentum afterward. However, we have consistently assured that the Darbar move will continue. Jammu has its own importance and speciality, and we will ensure it remains undiminished,” he said.
The Darbar move, a biannual shifting of the government offices between Jammu and Srinagar, has been a point of contention for years. The CM’s assurance is likely to ease concerns among the people of Jammu, reaffirming the region’s role in the administrative framework of the union territory.
