CRACKDOWN ON BOVINE SMUGGLING CONTINUE; 14 BOVINES RESCUED IN THIRD CONSECUTIVE DAY, BOVINE SMUGGLER ARRESTED

Samba, February 13: Continuing its drive against the bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police has foiled bovine smuggling attempt in third consecutive day, arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued fourteen bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal. The vehicle used for illegal transportation of bovines was also seized.

A Police team headed by SHO Police Station Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, signaled to stop a truck bearing registration No. NL01AF-4854 coming from Kathua side for checking. But the driver of the vehicle accelerated the speed endangering the life of police personnel on naka duty and hit the vehicle with naka road barrier causing damage to it. The alert cops successfully intercepted the vehicle and during checking fourteen bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
The bovine smuggler identified as Mukesh Kumar S/o Naseeb Chand R/o Bishnah district Jammu has been arrested.
A case FIR No. 25/2025 u/s 223 BNS 11 PCA 3 PDPP Act, 50/52/54 Transport of Animals Rules has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
