Several well-known shopkeepers of Jammu city were duped of large sums of their hard-earned money by the Delhi-based corporation.

Jammu, April 10: The Crime Branch (CB) has registered a case against top officials of Baba Infratech Corporation for allegedly committing a multi-crore fraud with prominent shopkeepers in Jammu, cheating them of their hard-earned money.

Around a dozen aggrieved shopkeepers from Jammu filed a joint complaint with the CB, alleging that the accused — Tanveer Chaudhary, son of Saleem Chaudhary, resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan, and Anindo Achinto Banerjee, son of Achinto Banerjee, resident of Elanza Mall, West Mumbai — posed as senior authorized officials of Baba Infratech Corporation. They approached the complainants with promises of providing high-end shops at prime locations in Jammu city for minimal rent over a period of two decades. Misled by the seemingly convincing modus operandi of the accused, the complainants fell into their trap. Eventually, the accused absconded and could not be contacted thereafter.

While the complainants who approached the CB have reported being defrauded of Rs 1.70 crore, there are reportedly many more victims of this large-scale scam, with the total amount involved running into several crores.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Crime), Jammu, Benam Tosh who is known for his integrity & dedication for job confirmed that FIR No. 23/2025 has been registered and that the investigation into this high-profile case has been handed over to an experienced investigating officer of DySP rank & soon the the culprits be brought to justice.
