CYBERCRIME INVESTIGATION UNIT OF J&K POLICE IN DISTRICT SAMBA LIENS DEFRAUDED AMOUNT OF RS. 289512

Samba, May 2: Cybercrime Investigation Unit of J&K Police in district Samba has liened defrauded amount of rupees two lakh eighty nine thousand five hundred twelve (Rs.2,89,512) in various cyber complaints received via both online and offline mode.

The Cybercrime Investigation Unit has solved cybercrime cases by liening online defrauded amount of RS. 1,72,512 and offline defrauded amount of Rs.1,17,000 so far since its inception in district Samba during the month of February, 2024. These complaints were related to online frauds involving mobile recharge, installation of third-party mobile Apps, Phishing, etc. 

The team of Cybercrime Investigation Unit headed by Inspector rank officer displayed  relentless efforts and advanced technical skills, leading to the successful liening the defrauded amount of Rs 2,89,512. Further Investigations into the cyber complaints are going on.

It is worthwhile to mention here that a dedicated Cybercrime Investigation Unit has been established in the premises of Police Station Samba to deal exclusively with cybercrime complaints which includes online financial frauds, social media frauds, etc.    

J&K Police has appealed to the general public to remain vigilant and not to share credentials online /offline with anybody, not to click unknown lurking links and promptly report any suspicious online activities to the National Cybercrime Helpline Number 1930. Samba Police urged upon citizens to lodge cyber complaints online at www.cybercrime.gov.in and for lost or stolen mobile phones at www.ceir.gov.in.
