CYBERCRIME INVESTIGATION UNIT OF POLICE IN DISTRICT SAMBA REFUNDS/LIENS DEFRAUDED AMOUNT OF RS 120398

Samba, May 17: Cybercrime Investigation Unit of Police in district Samba has refunded/ liened defrauded amount of rupees one lakh twenty thousand three hundred ninety eight (Rs.1,20,398/-) in five different cyber complaints received via both online and offline mode.

The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU) of Samba Police has received four online cyber complaints lodged by the citizens on National Cyber Crime Portal and one offline complaint at CCIU Samba involving a total amount of Rs.1,20,398/- that was defrauded through various online scams and fraudulent activities by the fraudsters. 

The team of Cybercrime Investigation Unit under DySP Hqrs headed by Inspector rank officer displayed relentless efforts and advanced technical skills, leading to the successful refunding of Rs.59,500/- and liening the defrauded amount of Rs.60,898/- in above said cyber complaints. Further investigation is going on.

It is worthwhile to mention here that a dedicated Cybercrime Investigation Unit has been established in the premises of Police Station Samba to deal exclusively with cybercrime complaints which includes online financial frauds, social media frauds, etc.    

Samba Police has appealed to the general public to remain vigilant and not to share credentials online /offline with anybody, not to click unknown lurking links and promptly report any suspicious online activities to the National Cybercrime Helpline Number 1930. Samba Police urged upon citizens to lodge cyber complaints online at www.cybercrime.gov.in and for lost or stolen mobile phones at www.ceir.gov.in.
