Samba, June 10 — Residents and commuters in Ward No.13, Samba, are expressing growing concern over broken and hanging supporting cables from electric poles on National Highway 44, near the LIC office. The cables have reportedly been lying on the ground for the past four days, posing a serious threat to public safety.

Despite repeated alerts, the concerned department appears to be in slumber, with no remedial action taken so far. This stretch of the road is a hub of activity, housing the LIC office and two busy banks, attracting daily footfall from hundreds of citizens.

Locals fear the hanging cables could cause electrical accidents, especially during rain or high wind. “It’s shocking that such a critical issue remains unaddressed for days, despite being in a prime area,” said a concerned resident.

Samba Times on behalf of citizens is now urging the Power Development Department (PDD) and local administration to wake up from their apathy and take immediate corrective action to avoid any mishap.
