DC Jammu Directs Strict Monitoring of Sex Determination Activities: Approves Registration of 13 Ultrasound Clinics
Jammu, December 10: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya today emphasized the need for rigorous enforcement of the Pre-Conception & Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act during a meeting of the District Advisory Committee. He directed Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to maintain strict vigilance against illegal sex determination practices in their respective jurisdictions.
The DC instructed SDMs to conduct surprise inspections of medical facilities monthly and ensure full compliance with the PCPNDT Act. He warned that violators would face stringent legal action, highlighting the critical role of proactive measures in curbing such practices.
As part of the agenda, the committee approved the registration of 13 ultrasound clinics and imaging centers. The DC also stressed the importance of close monitoring of ultrasound clinics and imaging centers across the district to prevent any misuse of diagnostic technologies.
This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to promoting gender equity and ensuring adherence to laws designed to prevent female feticide.
