DC Samba Chairs District-Level NCORD Committee Meeting

Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma, today chaired the district-level committee review meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) at the Conference Hall, DC office, Samba.

The meeting was attended by a host of key officials including ASP Samba Surinder Choudhary, ADC Samba Suresh Sharma, Principal GDC Samba, representatives from BSF, Deputy Commandant, ACR Samba Kusum Chib, SDM Gaghwal, Sunaina Saini, SDM Vijaypur, Umesh Sharma DIO, and other district and sectoral officers.

During the meeting, different officers apprised the chair regarding the actions taken to curb drug abuse and narcotics trade in the district. It was reported that 100% of CCTV cameras have been installed across the district, and 70% of shops have started computerized billing, with show cause notices issued to the remaining 30% of firms/shops.

DC Samba emphasized the importance of the NIDAAN portal, the seizure of property belonging to drug peddlers, and the need for comprehensive awareness programs against drug abuse. He directed the Principals of GDC and heads of other educational institutions to chair parent-teacher meetings to gather feedback from parents. Additionally, he instructed the DYSSO to improve the condition of grounds across the district and engage youth in sports activities. Street vendors operating around institutions should also be randomly checked.

DC Samba underscored the need for sustained efforts from law enforcement agencies to monitor and control substance abuse, urging all stakeholders to work in a coordinated manner. He also directed district officers to submit a monthly progress report.

Furthermore, SDMs were directed to convene meetings at the sub-division level and conduct random checks of medicine shops to ensure 100% computerized billing.
