New Delhi: A Delhi court is set to decide on the bail plea of Member of Parliament (MP) Engineer Rashid in a terror funding case on March 21. Rashid, who was elected as an independent MP from Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, is currently in judicial custody.

The case, investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), pertains to alleged terror financing linked to separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Rashid was arrested in 2019 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and has been in custody since then.

His legal team has argued that he should be granted bail, especially after winning the Lok Sabha election, to fulfill his parliamentary duties. However, the prosecution has opposed the plea, citing the seriousness of the charges.

The court is expected to announce its decision on March 21, which could have significant political and legal implications.
